Lemonade Stands

When I was a child there was a neighborhood garage sale that would take place every year where I lived. I would sell lemonade, as would many other children. My lemonade was made with real lemons and it was delicious. I would serve it in larger quantities than my competitors and therefore charged more, but the product was superior.

Quality Always Wins

Certainly, a larger customer base is desirable and price competition may help with that, however, if this leads to the deterioration of the product due to the need to source cheaper and lower quality ingredients so prices can be lower, customers may evaporate.

We lemonade stand kids weren’t so savvy because we were 8 years old. Still, I saw this to be the case through results. Maybe the neighbors just wanted to be nice to my parents’ son. Even still, that could be because my parents were quality people and neighbors enjoyed their friendship.

Or maybe they were just thirsty.

Taking a Stake in a Business

When I buy stock in a business, I am seeking quality. I am buying the better lemonade stand. I am not day trading. I am looking for companies with a mindset of consideration to what problem these companies are solving for people. Is this a quality product or service? Is this durable? Am I buying a business because I believe in what they are doing?

Buy Once Cry Once

Quality is expensive. Cheap is more expensive. It may not appear that way at first blush, but as time marches on, it always is.

Come to my lemonade stand. Now by appointment only.
